There’s a possibility that the crashing issue is caused by corrupted or missing game files. In order to fix this you will need to verify the integrity of the game files using the Steam To check if it really is the game's fault, start a new profile without mods and multiplayer. Once I turn the Promods off, the game stops crashing, so that's definitely the problem. The website for the promods attempts to be very helpful. It gave a list of possibilities for why the game was crashing. However, I checked all of them (as the website advised) and I couldn't find any problem with how I installed it.
